I am so honored that the Auburn Symphony selected my art once again to grace their program for the 3rd time this year. My piece “Rhapsody in Blue” was featured in their Masterworks series “Night at the Movies”.
This piece was inspired by my mother; many life experiences surrounding music and art. I went to symphonies with my mother in Atlanta, outdoors and underneath the stars, much like the Auburn Symphony’s Symphony and Art in the Park. The moon was luminous and large above us, the music transported us, and it was pure magic. My mother played the clarinet in the “Classic City Jazz Band” in Athens, GA, and often made the “set” for their performances. A favorite design included life-sized silhouette jazz musicians set around the stage and lit from behind (these are replicated in this piece in the moon).
